RE: Aroma's Homepage
" It could show a guy's intent in general, but enough questions for a bit, we're going to do something different."

Ember moved away from the line of girls.

" Roite then, so here's what I' getting off of the lot of ya.

Bayonet, yer certainly the most trustworthy lass 'ere, but that doesn't exempt you from any suspicion just yet, you acted a bit abnormal on your second question, like ya may 'av been hiding somethin'. Still you 'av the closest relationship with 'er so you probably didn't want to share anything too offensive about 'er, especially in the presence of a reporter no less. The fact ya questioned the last question is an interesting point though, especially since the others here didn't mind it as much. Yer general eagerness towards a resolve might show that you want this assassin bagged ASAP but it may say something else about ya. Fer now though, yer in the clear with me.

Now Garde, yer quite the character but ya still don't seem like one ta do it. Yer a straightforward lass and ya seem pretty devoted to yer work, I can't see ya having any reason to want to poison this Aroma lass and especially not when such a long career of yer's would be at stake.

Somnie, Yer the most harmless one 'ere, I assumed this whole sleepyhead schick was just an act but ya answered yer questions directly, and ya didn't try to hide anything it seems either. Yer preference with non-violent methods towards confrontations reinforces the notion.

Now Agent, I know it's stereotyping but ya gotta admit, Yer almost unscrupulous in yer dealings and you'll work for whoever's got the fullest wallet. Ya ain't got nothing at risk nor do ya really care much for this Aroma lass. I may not know much about the NetMafia but I say it's safe to say that an organization like 'em would 'ave a bigger budget than a single person such as Aroma, so as it stands yer the biggest danger to Aroma because of that, and fer that, I want ya to move to the opposite side of the room if ya will.

Now Beacon, ya seem harmless, but it seems ta me ya haven't had much luck in yer work as of lately, haven't made that hit story yet. Aroma's poisoning in such a big gathering would be quite a huge thing, and with ya right 'er and past that large crowd ya wouldn't have much competition when it happened fer a while. Ya have the most reason ta do it from what I feel, so I want ya to join Agent on the other side of the room too.

And finally, Flambe, ya seem like a nice lass but again, yer the closes to the food 'ere. While you yerself may not have any reason to want to poison the lass you could still be part of an inside job fer someone else. I'd like ya to move to the other side of the room also."

RE: Aroma's Homepage
Ember quietly took in what all the girls had to share with him, the information he was given didn't really reveal anything but the girls behavior did. Bayonet seemed like she was a bit shocked by the question given to her, and she gave off an impression that she was actively defying his effort, describing someone's behavior in a more casual position shouldn't be so taboo, clearly there was something more to this Aroma that Bayonet did not want him to know. But would that secret reveal her intentions towards Aroma? Maybe not. Garde however did act quite strange when she answered her question, Ember was still rather young for a navi so he doesn't know a whole lot about the NetMafia and their history, but is the subject really that uncomfortable to discuss?

Despite their unusual behavior, there was still no indication towards their intentions towards Aroma. Unlike these two, everyone else didn't hesitate to answer their questions. Agent's answer did make him more suspicious of her, as she would easily fall for anyone that had a bigger wallet than Aroma did, and an organization like the NetMafia could have that sort of budget. How would he go about this from here? They are probably on to him and simply asking for Aroma's vices would yield no result.

Ember decided that maybe bringing up an unrelated and less pokey question would have some of the girls become more relaxed and less defensive.

" Roite then, so next questions will be answered in the same order. We all have netbattled at some point in our existence so... say yer ran into some pretty nasty viruses, these aren't ones you can just whip out a few cannons n' shotguns and have it done an over with, one will more than likely have to tap into more advanced measures, What's yer typical netbattling strategy in that situation, in detail.

After ya answer that, I wanna know your stance on this whole "virus morality" talk that's been going on round the net fer a while. Ya think viruses should be given the right to live and if bustin them is wrong and all that jazz. If ya ask me, a virus is a virus. It breaks stuff, deletes programs, and muck with machinery to either malfunction or outright attack folks. I say they just need to be wiped upon discovery."

Ember took in what each girl had to say to him, smiling a bit. All of them didn't seem like bad programs; still he had to get more information from them to see what their true intentions were. He still had some concern towards Agent, as though she claims that she may be stereotyped, she is still a good suspect at the least. Flambe and Somnia didn't indulge as much information as the others, but while Somnia still seemed more affable than anything, Flambe's behavior came off as odd to Ember. Ember took another glance at the list that Patrolman gave him for more ideas on what to ask about. The strait stuff didn't seem like anything that would give him much of a lead but the rumors were still rumors, and might get the girls touchy with him if he asked about it in such a blunt manner. Finally he figured out a plan.

"...Roite, now here is what we're doing next then, I'm gonna pass each of yas a question in order and you lassies will answer yer given question in order, with no interruptions from the others, Roite? So..."

Ember approached Flambé.

"We're starting with ya, since yer the chef you're the closest to the food. So tell me about this culinary, what goes on back there in the kitchen eh? And tell me more about Aroma's taste in fine drinks and food."

Ember then turned towards Bayonet.

"Now ya probably know this Aroma lass in a less professional position more than the others here, what do ya know about her as an individual? And how is she with others in a less formal position?"

Ember Faced Agent next.

"Now for ya, Tell me about yer line of work and how you handle business, and just how "Seedy" are ya willing to get?"

Ember then approached Garde.

"Now, ya's been working as an officer for as long as Bayonet has, tell me about any past run ins with the NetMafia during yer line of work, if ya have any to share."

Ember came towards Somnia next.

" Lass, I want ya to tell me more about yer time spent with Aroma back in the past, and the impression ya get from her since then."

Finally, Ember approached Beacon

"As fer ya, I want to hear about some of yer past NP related stories, Especially any that may involve either that Aroma lass or the NetMafia.."

With the girls before him it was time to device a game plan. So far he didn't have too much suspicion towards any of the girls, Bayonet and Garde seems fairly sincere while Somnia and the reporter seemed harmless enough. He had some suspicion towards Chef since she handles the food and Agent due to her being affiliated with no one. For now though, he figured that the best thing to do was to get a general idea on what these women were like.

"..Roite then, so You all here are the Lasses I'll be checking out then, so how about you all just start things off by telling me about yerselves, what ya do, and yer relation with this Aroma lass then eh? We'll do this from front to back, startin' with Bayonet here."

With the magnet gun in hand, Embers first action was to store it to keep it out of sight, he held the device up towards his neck where the barrel storage was, which opened up and absorbed the device in a ray of light before closing again. With the gun in his possession and with a good grasp on what he needed to do, he went on to confirm his understanding and to move onward.

"Roite then, no further questions, I've got it now."

With that, Ember went towards the door to open it and enter the room he was lead to.

Ember paid close attention to the words of the official Navi as he took the gun shaped magnet device out to present to him, he heeded his warning on using the device frivolously; for a 500z deduction on everyone certainly wasn't going to please the net police. Once he moved on to the list he made diligence to commit everything told to him into memory. He focused up until he mentioned the rumor of her being racist, he didn't know exactly what her racism would be directed at but briefly looked around to see that he was surrounded by humanoid Navis. Being an upright standing canine in design made him stick out, and the cannon on his back didn't help matters. He brought his focus back on Patrolman but blushed a bit. Fortunately It was masked by his already red fur color.

He heard Patrolman's last offer to bail but truly felt no need to ditch the mission so soon, he understood what was needed of him and felt confident in his abilities.

"Aye, no worries. Even if I did get poisoned I've got restorative systems that ought to knock it off. I'm ready to head in."

"First Day on the job" Ember thought to himself as he traveled to the given coordinates at light speed, He was quite excited to finally leave Dentech's network and go out into the world wide web for once. As he was closing in on the drop off point he wondered exactly why this Aroma Navi was being targeted in the first place, his external AI had as much detailed information on them as Mark could gather installed, but nothing explained why they wanted her deleted. He abandoned the thoughts the moment he made it to the coordinates, his body began to compile into its normal shape from the beam of energy he traveled as. Once he was whole he briefly took the time to examine the area he was in, to him it seemed rather plain for something that needed such high security, never-the-less he had a task to fulfill.

His first objective was to find this Patrolman Navi, his external AI indicated that he stook out and shouldn't be hard to find. He took a visual scan of the boardwalk only to be met with funny looks, regardless no one really stuck out as much as the next Navi. Upon turning around to face the procession he discovered the large Navi that was managing the crowd as they entered, though he seemed more invested in his car. Ember had no record on what Patrolman looked like but it seemed that he was a good start for now. The large canine Navi came forward and introduced himself to the large navi.

"Aye, Embah here and report'n fer duty."

He said while giving a salute out of respect, this being his first job he probably wanted to stay on everyone's good side if possible.

"I'm here tah speak to the one called "Patrolman" if he ain't you, so I can get mah briefin on what I gottah know and do."

Security Navi seeking first job.
I have designed a stabilized prototype of a multi-maintenance autonomous navigator for the purpose of bolstering database and network security with something capable of more intricate decisions than most automated security systems. Its functions involve exterminating unauthorized entities that bypass automated security measures while restoring the code integrity of damaged programs and objects. A feature instilled in him to eliminate the need for training is the capability of loading information data into an external AI bank that can be referenced from quickly, this adds another layer of security by keeping classified information such as passcodes safe by being deleted once the navi is relieved of his duties. He will have no memory of them so it renders the need to delete him for security reasons unnecessary.

He is still just a prototype and hasn't been tested in a serious environment yet, I am seeking a job for him to guard any medium sized or smaller secure network or database that would be in actual danger of a security breech. Payment for our service can be discussed once we meet the client.

Do note that enlisting the aid of my Navigator means that you agree to withhold any responsibility for his failure in security, as he is a prototype on his first job.

Personality: Mark is studious and diligent Dentech university student with and an obsessive sense of time management. He is also a rather pragmatic in decision making and overly serious about virtually everything. His strait forward nature hides a creative side of him expressed in his work in navi design and program development.

His own navi was composed after his love of dogs and huge monsters, and many times treats him like his own sapient canine companion, using him to fetch files and data for him as he works or ward off viruses from his computer, he fails to consider that his navi may get bored of such a lifestyle.

Mark lacks a sense of humor, and isn't always keen on catching sarcasm or with a lot of the time.

Appearance: an average sized Male with brown messy hair and a strong square chin with upturned nose, he wears black square glasses and a yellow scarf around his neck. he wears a blue jean vest with 2 buttons and a long sleeve black undershirt. He has on dark blue jeans that sag a bit at the bottom and wears white shoes.

PET modifications: none, It's merely a red PET.

Mark has little patience when dealing with others so he can lose his temper with others quite fast, and once agitated he frequently draws rash decisions. He is a pragmatist who feels that the ends justify the means, and while vandalism and cheating aren't high on his list of methods he's not shy to do what is necessary for his benefit regardless of moral. Though he can detect sarcasm from others as well as any normal human being, he has no real sense of humor.

Name: Ember
Element: Fire
Subtype: Recovery
Appearance: A huge dog looking navi that resembles a Saint Bernard. Hos body is covered in red fur with large black patches of fur on his shoulders and thighs with a black line of fur going down along his arm from his shoulders. His hands have 4 black fingers and a tuft of fur on the palm with the mark of a black circle with a point on top. He has a thick bushy tail with black lines on opposite sides of it. A blue and brown barrel with two golden brass strips on it is attached to his neck with a dark blue collar. The barrel is split in half and the front of it has a circular insignia of a red polygonal shape resembling a kite shield with a white "+" on it

Personality: Ember is an adventurous and good-natured navi that desires to see everything the cyberworld has to offer, while he is quite rash about what he does he generally means well. Though Ember is generally obedient to his operator, he has his bouts of rebellion when he starts to grow bored with his operators bland lifestyle.

Despite being canine based he doesn't really act canine like. Ember is not exactly the most intelligent navi alive but is still far from stupid or gullible. Although he's rather quick to anger he's still a fairly charitable navi that's willing to lend others a hand if they need it.

Custom weapon: Ember generally relies on his fists to do most of the fighting but his hyperspace utility barrel that's on his neck can supply him with firepower in the form of an extending cannon.

To:

Name: Ember
Element: Fire
Subtype: Recovery
Appearance: Ember is one of Mark's primary projects during his learning in college, he is a Multi-maintenance Navi designed for securing and recovering any moderately sized network, server, or database. Mark created him out of the belief that due to viruses and navis becoming stronger, smarter, and more capable, automated security measures alone wouldn't cut it anymore. He takes the form of a large canine shaped navi with red fur and a cream underbelly. His head and neck area has three stripes of the same color as his underbelly going up from it. On his upper torso is a black metallic armor like plate that houses a beige barrel shaped container under his neck and a large cannon shape device behind him. The former being a storage barrel used for carrying objects, data, or loading information in an external AI, allowing him to instantly gain knowledge by having data and procedures placed within his external AI store and not having to compile it into his own memory. The latter however is a devise that although looks like a gigantic cannon can actually do more than launch firepower. It also can transfer data and material from the storage barrel and even be used to generate pulses that recover damaged data.
His toes and fingers are all black. He stands upright in a hunched position.

Personality: Ember is a good-natured navi who never seems to hold any kind of ill will towards others, even viruses. He does what he does because as a (prototype) security navi he has to. The external AI within his barrel allows him to instantly obtain full comprehension on procedures and information but only has so much space and is regularly cleared out to make room for future jobs, causing him to instantly forget past knowledge or abilities held within it, such as security codes or procedures for operating programs. He isn't exactly the smartest navi on his own and can be a bit gullible. Though he is usually obedient to his operator he does prefer to go off on his own and goof off, he gets bored easily and has a bad habit of shirking responsibilities because of that.

Custom weapon: Ember generally relies on the cannon mounted on his backside, but will frequently use melee assault when needed.

Nothing here either, they were drawing at blanks at this point, only 4 computers but one is useless, one is locked, one is off, and one is somewhere else. It's now very much clear why the client needed help. But where was the fourth Volcano computer? Nothing was on the control console hologram besides the two other computers and the path down to the chamber. Looking for options wherever he could find, he began to examine the control console for any sort of control or button he could try.

"Well, I got nothing Boss..." Ember gently places the program in his hand back onto the ground. "We are wasting time with them, let's head back into the cave and look for some answers elsewere."

In a bright cyan beam Ember left the network, jacking out and returning to his PET. With his navi back in his possession, Mark returned to the room filled with netbattling stands and the holographic map of the caves. Deciding that there may be some information left in the netbattling stands; he searches for a jack in signal in the room.

"Naw Boss, let me try this time." The Barrel on Ember's neck pops open, he reaches in to pull out a bottle of brandy and a shot glass all in one hand. Carefully he sets the shot glass on the ground, trying not to squish any of the frenzied programs, and began to pour Brandy inside it. "Take some of that now, that'll calm ya down" he returns the bottle of brandy back into his barrel and closed it shut. He then turns his attention to the program in his hands. "Roite then, so tell us, do ya know anything about a magma chamber here on the island, anything at all? If not then just say so, and don't worry about my Boss, he's got a stick in his rump is all." Mark grew irate over the fact his navi had the audacity to make a remark like that, but remained silent to see if he could get them to talk.

Mark got pretty annoyed with the program's blatant denial of supplying information about the chamber. "Aright now, you better speak up about that lava chamber or else I'll turn this place into a lava chamber! My navi has a setlava program installed and this area is small enough to be completely engulfed in boiling hot lava once we use it. So you better speak now or prepare for a lava bath,"

Ember was shocked with his operators threat "Boss! You're really going to do that to these little guys?"

Mark examines the list of the comp status between all four Volcomps, with only four of them and one being confirmed to not have what they are looking for, things should be easier than they seemed at first, but the fact that Volcomp1 is offline is a bit worrying, and finding a way to turn that on would be a good idea incase what they are looking for turns out to be in that one. Mark decides to ask if the Programs would have any idea as to how Volcomp1 could be turned on.

"Aright then, so how does one turn on the first Volcomp? We need to check every one of them so being able to bring Volcomp1 back online would be a big help for us. Is there a power switch somewhere or are the power controls automated?"

RE: Tepid Trip
Mark was mildly confused with the program's tone of voice and response, how would it not know what the term "functional" means? And why did it show so little concern? More importantly it seemed to have dodged his previous question about the lava chamber as well. Mark started to become suspicious of the programs, but played along with it some more. "Well... It's not working, it seems to not be powered at all as the screen is blank and no LED lights are on; and again, what about that chamber I asked you about?" Mark's tone remained calm as he spoke, but waits to see what the program does. Denial and avoidance would clearly mean it's hiding something, or it could just be really old data that doesn't know otherwise.

"We have already examined the cave and we found two other consoles, one is sealed under an automated lock and the other isn't functional. How can we open the automatic lock on the functional one?...Oh! But before that, we found a chamber illuminated by lava behind some odd insulating transparent material, can you tell us anything about that chamber?"

Meanwhile, mark was watching the entire scene while perplexed at the situation. His navi was said to have a large filesize by the micro Mr. Prog, but mark thought he did a sufficient job in optimizing to make sure he didn't take too much space, could the technology be that old? Has current technology demanded a higher average of memory to work?
